Every Town Should Be An Eco Town

Sustainable Energy worth millions to Cornwall

Sustainable energy is worth over £500 million per year to the economy in the South West, according to a survey commissioned by Regen SW, the region’s sustainable energy agency. And although Cornwall only represents one tenth of the population, it was responsible for one fifth of this activity — around 1,400 people generating £100 million. A delegation from the Cornwall Sustainable Energy Partnership (CSEP) will be taking a Cornish perspective on how to achieve a sustainable low-carbon economy to the corridors of European power in Brussels next week.This high-level trip follows on from Wednesday’s European Commission announcement which detailed a raft of policy measures designed to take EU member states towards a sustainable future. Cornwall Energy Partnership Greets Inevitable Nuclear Power Announcementwith Scepticism

Yesterday’s Nuclear Power announcement by Secretary of State John Hutton has been greeted with scepticism by the award winning Cornwall Sustainable Energy Partnership (CSEP). It is the very same minister who, in the Autumn, was recommending to Gordon Brown that the UK should renege on European Renewable Energy Targets. Energy Security for Cornwall — critical or plentiful?
