UK Case Studies

Whilst the UK overall is many years behind other parts of Europe on sustainable energy policy and implementation, we shouldn't forget that some exemplary work has been achieved by some particularly progressive organisations and communities in the UK.

The following UK exemplars were included in the conference 2007 delegate packs:

Boyndie Wind Farm Cooperative (2.7MB) - Scotland's first community owned wind farm.

Chy An Gweal, Ludgvan, Penzance, Cornwall (2MB) - The first UK retrofit of ground source heat pumps to existing social housing.

Sheffield Road Flats, Barnsley South Yorkshire (1.9MB) - A biomass district heating scheme supplying 166 social housing flats.

Thameswey Ltd. (1.3MB) - The UK's first public-private joint venture Energy and Environmental Service Company (EESCO)
