The Energy in Buildings Group is a key delivery mechanism for all Energy in Buildings matters with the exclusion of i. Commercial and Public Sector Energy Management and ii. Health and Community related issues such as fuel poverty.

The structure of the Energy in Buildings Group was determined in early 2005 when Renewable and Domestic Energy Partners agreed to work together on issues primarily related to the integration of renewable energy in domestic buildings.

Energy in Buildings Group members include:

  • Public Sector housing, planning and facilities managers
  • Housing Associations
  • Combined Universities in Cornwall
  • Architects, Developers, Engineers
  • Sustainable Energy and technology experts
  • The Micropower Council
  • HIP and EPC assessors

Aims of the Energy in Buildings Group:

The above combination of organisations/ individuals with appropriate responsibilities and ability to influence decision makers is regarded as the appropriate forum to enable CSEP to:

  • Develop and assist with the delivery of targets such as those within the Local Area Agreement for the incorporation of low & zero carbon technologies within housing and community buildings in Cornwall.
  • Maximise the ability for Cornwall to be the first county in the UK to agree and insist on a target of a % between 10% & 15% integration of sustainable energy in all new local development.
  • Ensure that energy efficiency is the primary factor of energy sustainability in all buildings in Cornwall.
  • Liaise with and, when necessary, prepare relevant reports for the CSEP Jobs and Industry Group in order to maximise demand driven local jobs and industry opportunities.
  • Lobby for appropriate support and changes in legislation.
