Energy in Transport Group
Chair: TBC
The Energy in Transport Group is a key delivery mechanism for all transport related matters. The importance of sustainably-fuelled transport related projects has been highlighted in the Energy Strategy for Cornwall.
The structure of the Energy in Transport Group was determined in early 2005 when Business and Public Sector Partners agreed that it was appropriate for CSEP to create a forum specifically for the furtherance of transport projects.
Energy in Transport Group members include:
- Transport Managers – public and private sector
- Oil distributors
- Combined Universities in Cornwall and research specialists
- Sustainable fuel / transport and technology experts
Aims of the Energy in Transport Group:
The above combination of organisations/individuals with appropriate responsibilities and ability to influence decision makers is regarded as the appropriate forum to enable CSEP to:
- Develop and assist with the delivery of targets in the Energy Strategy for Cornwall, which promote the use of alternative and renewably fuelled vehicles in public and private sector fleets, to create the market for the production of such fuels.
- Maximise the market opportunities in Cornwall for bio diesel and bio ethanol production.
- Investigate and maximise funding opportunities.
- Investigate further opportunities for renewably fuelled vehicles, such as electric and hydrogen.
- Liaise with and, when necessary, prepare relevant reports for the CSEP Jobs & Industry Group in order to maximise demand driven local jobs and industry opportunities.
- Promote the need for more awareness in transport users.
- Lobby for appropriate support and changes in legislation.
